Road Cycling in the Ingleton Area

Picture
Ingleton lies on the Sustrans Route 68 - Pennine Cycleway (South Pennines) - and is criss-crossed by great bike routes.

Ingleton - Dent -Kirkby

At a steep 36 miles, this route will give you a flavour of our local area. For a route description and profile, see this excellent site.  There are plenty of good refresher stops available on route including the caravan next to the awesome Ribblehead Viaduct.

Ingleborough Round

A bit shorter and less hilly at 25 miles is the Ingleborough circuit on mainly very quiet roads as follows:
A - Ingleton to
B - Clapham via the old back road to
C - Austwick - involving a very short section (about 2 mins but in progress of being replaced by a cycle path) on busy A65 to
D - Helwith Bridge to
E - Ribblehead then back to Ingleton.  (Turn right soon after the Old Hill Inn onto the Roman road which is much quieter than the B6255).

Lancaster Cycle Paths

This is a lovely almost flat off-road tarmacced route.
If you park at Bull Beck (see map on children's page), you can cycle to Lancaster (about 5 miles ).
From there, you can head North to Morecambe (about 3 miles), then onto Heysham (another 2 miles) along the promenade.
Alternatively, from Lancaster, head South to Glasson Dock (about 5 miles).
