Best routes from/near Ingleton

For mountain biking, Ingleton is a dream home base.

We recommend Crummack Dale Dab as the best introduction to the awesome Three Peaks area mountain biking scenery:

 – this is a circular 12 mile route from Clapham but you can start it from Ingleton by cycling to & from Clapham on the Clapham Old Road (about 3 miles each way along a very quiet straight road.) Route map here. It has good refreshment stops in Clapham, Austwick & Feizor.

A similar route to this was featured in the Britain's best singletrack series in MBR magazine in March 2015.

For mountain biking in the Yorkshire Dales, this is a good website as it includes downloadable pdf routes.

The routes that we like best that are close to Ingleton are:
Tour of Ingleborough - 25 miles of good bridleways - can be ridden in most weather.

Tour of PenyGhent:

Settle Loop, see a fab new video of this.

The Tour of Whernside is very steep and predominantly bleak. We'd recommend doing it the opposite way to that in the route description. It then has excellent downhills and superb views. The top loop to Dent can be omitted without spoiling the day as it is quite unrideable in places.  The section above Yordas Cave can get very boggy so it best avoided after a period of heavy rainfall.

Here's another good local MTB site.

Ingleton is only 10 miles away from Gisburn Forest mountain bike trail. (If you are a keen mountain biker and haven't heard of it, you soon will - its awesome!)
